NMU PRSSA - February 22, 2010

*Just a note of thanks to Jamie Carter and the team from NMU's PRSSA for all their help with Kaleidoscope and with helping with the promotion of my concert and other upcoming events.  They have come along side with my management team and have been a great help with events and setting up future events.  Below you find more information on PRSSA and the names of all the ones helping at this time!  Same info can be found under the Concert Sponsor link on my website.

This semester, a committee of  NMU’s Public Relation Student Society of America (PRSSA) members has been established to help with the promotions and publicity side of Adam Whittington's March 19th concert. The committee has been hard at work volunteering their time by helping put up posters at local businesses, handing out flyers and making the community and the campus of NMU aware of not only the March concert, but also of Adam’s music. They are constantly brainstorming ideas on how to get Adam’s name out there, and are hoping to plan a few events for him in the near future. Members of the committee are: Kate Annala, Jamie Carter, Andrea Hitt, Geoff Holloway, Scott Jensen, Laura Niemela, and Brandon Wrobel.

Other:

NMU’s Public Relation Student Society of America (PRSSA) is the world’s most paramount pre-professional organization for students interested in the field of public relations. Each year the NMU chapter puts together a successful annual campaign to raise money for a local charity. The campaign entails a ski and snowboard competition and a 3 on 3 basketball tournament. This year’s benefiting charity is Teaching Family Homes of Marquette. Both of these events not only generate a large amount of community support, but also, PRSSA members plan these events, which gives them valuable events coordination experience.

Other Featured Performers - March 19th Concert - February 1, 2010

ADAM WHITTINGTON CONCERT

Other Featured Performers

BeckyCairati.JPGOpening for Adam and performing a few duets with him is Becky Cairati. She is 19 and a freshman at Northern Michigan University. Becky lives at home with her very supportive parents and brother. Her sister, who is also very encouraging, attends U of M. Becky loves a variety of music and has written many of her own songs which have been written from her personal experiences. Along with being a very talented singer/songwriter, she has also been in several musicals, including High School Musical. Other things Becky enjoys are playing guitar, playing soccer, basketball, and softball to name a few. For her senior year of high school- MSHS, she spent the year as a Rotary Exchange Student in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia. During her stay, she became fluent in Spanish and performs some of her music in that language. Part of Becky's dream is to become a musical performer.

*Adam and Becky actually met during the High School Musical 3 years ago as he played a lead role as Troy and Becky in a lead role as Gabriella. All 4 shows were sold-out performances with an amazing cast directed by Nikke Nason of Marquette Arts and Culture Center.

EthanBott.JPGAlso opening for Adam is Ethan Bott. Ethan is a very talented 13 year old who lives with his supportive parents, sister and Newfoundland Roxie in Marquette. He attends Bothwell Middle School where he is involved in choral and jazz band. He has been singing and playing guitar for four years and plays both electric and acoustic. Ethan has started writing songs within the last year and will be performing two of them at the March Concert. Some of his music is written with more of a rock flair. Other interests he has are piano, skateboarding and snowboarding. He snowboards most weekends at the Marquette Mountain. Ethan also had an opportunity to perform at one of Matt Sia's local concerts and has opened for Chasin Steel at the Upfront and Company. He came highly recommended to be part of this concert due to his gifts and talents.

Both Ethan and Becky will also thoroughly impress you with their songwriting abilities and vocals.

Also featured at the concert are the very talented:

'Marquette Senior High School Dance Team' will be doing choreographed dancing along with Adam during his concert.

Marquette Senior High School Dance Team is a select dance performance team. They have 13 members this year freshmen thru senior. They perform at Varsity Football, Boys’ and Girls’ Varsity Basketball, Soccer and Wrestling. In November and March they put on their own show titled, Not Just A Half Time Show. They have won numerous team competitions in addition to individual awards. This past November they traveled to New York City to perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

'Northern Michigan University Dance Team' will be doing choreographed dancing along with Adam during his concert.  Those included are: Breanna St. Onge, Colette Armes, Becky Salfai, Kylie Snowaert, Chelsea Bonk, Samantha Saker, Hannah Mincheff, Rebecca BartoBinz,
Megan Jastremski, Jessica Nagy, Amanda Dorman

The NMU Dance Team is made up of dedicated and talented young women who wish to represent the university in a positive and spirited manner. The team has a very diverse training background; members have been trained in dance genres ranging from classical ballet to hip-hop, participated in cheerleading, gymnastics, kick lines, and elite pompon programs. This diversity makes our team remarkable, as we are able draw on each others' strengths to succeed. As a team we have the opportunity to perform at select home football games, home volleyball games, home men's and women's basketball games, and various university and community functions. Through performances, appearances, and volunteer activities, the Northern Michigan University Dance Team serves as NMU ambassadors.

Info from Marquette Mining journal for upcoming concert! - September 22, 2009

Local singer/songwriters, Adam Whittington and Emily Dawn will be having a concert Saturday, September 26th at the Marquette, Commons sponsored by the Marquette Arts and Culture Center. Concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. An indoor alternative will be available at the Commons in the event of rain.

Adam, a senior in High School, has written and produced 12 of his songs on his new CD, Adam Whittington, “To You.” in his home in Ishpeming. Vocals and guitar were recorded at Redfella in Marquette. Two of the songs from his CD are being played on local radio stations. Adam’s music has been written with a pop and acoustic flair. Depending on the song, you will either be up dancing or sitting back and relaxing. Adam also performs almost every Saturday at the Agape Café homeless shelter. Adam is a member of ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.)

Emily Dawn (McGlone) is currently competing for a record deal with Miley Cyrus’s Miley World. She currently is in the top six of over 5,000 entries. Emily has been enjoying writing and producing her own music., and is currently working on her first CD. She is a junior at Westwood High, involved in Voices in Motion, Solo Ensemble and Honors Choir, Dance Team, and Cross Country. She looks forward to a future in the music industry.

Adam and Emily performed this year at Seafood Fest in Marquette and have been performing at other venues. Each of them has a very unique style of music and encourages one another to follow their dreams toward a career in entertainment. The concert will include solos from their own written music, but will also include duets of popular cover songs. You will be thoroughly amazed at the gifts and talent of these two local teens.
